Blue Skilled Worker Card

Easy apply for CSCS Blue Skilled Worker Card.

Eligibility requirements

The Blue Skilled Worker card is for qualified trades. Have these two things ready.

Both are required. Completing only the test or only the qualification is not enough to apply. If you are experienced in your job but do not hold the qualification yet, register for one and apply for a Red Experienced Worker Card.

Renewal

Renew your Blue Skilled Worker Card

You can renew from six months before the expiry date printed on the card, and for up to a year after that date.

  1. 01

    Same qualification

Use the construction qualification from your previous card. That is your NVQ or SVQ Level 2, or your approved apprenticeship. You do not take it again.

  2. 02

    A current CITB test

Pass the CITB Health, Safety and Environment test, or an approved alternative, within the last two years. The level must match your occupation. Use the Card Finder if you are not sure.

  3. 03

    Choose Renew Card

Start with Easy Apply. On the application, choose Renew Card and enter the number on your current or expired card.

If the card has been expired for more than a year, apply as a new applicant. If you have changed occupation, or you now hold a different qualification, apply for a new card. Some occupations need a copy of the qualification certificate. You will be asked for it when it is required.

  • Renew from six months before the expiry date, and for up to a year after, with the same qualification and a current CITB test.
  • A new application needs a construction-related NVQ or SVQ Level 2, or an approved apprenticeship, plus a CITB test from the last 2 years.
